After more than six decades of service, Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust (DCDT) has now formally closed as a registered charity. While it is with great sadness that we say goodbye, we do so with immense pride in all that has been achieved—thanks to the generosity, hard work and support of our incredible community.
Since the 1960s, DCDT has worked to improve cancer services for people across Doncaster. From funding state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to supporting the development of local hospice care, our mission has always been simple: to make a real difference in the lives of those facing cancer.
In our final year, we were proud to fund three new ultrasound machines to support cancer diagnosis and treatment at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals:
These machines will directly benefit patients at both Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital, ensuring that our legacy continues to support those in need.
Now, as DCDT comes to a close, its values and purpose will live on through a dedicated fund within the DBTH Charity. This ringfenced fund will continue to raise money specifically for cancer detection, equipment, and innovation—ensuring that the spirit and impact of DCDT continues for years to come.
From all of us at DCDT: thank you. Whether you donated, volunteered, or supported one of our appeals, your kindness has helped transform cancer care in our region—and we are eternally grateful.
